A new Copyright Knowledge Centre has been launched by EUIPO to resolve AI Challenges.
The Copyright Knowledge Centre will work as a core resource provider, including advanced tools and comprehensive guidelines, to empower the creators and other stakeholders to protect their rights against piracy.
Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the creative sector, while copyright regulations differ in each European country. The Centre’s objective is to explain protection measures, encourage the respect of intellectual property, and reward creators. It also plans to be a cooperative environment where creators, developers, and institutions can exchange experiences, face difficulties, and find solutions to generative AI’s problems.
The Centre Provides Solutions for AI and the Copyright Law Problem and Also Supplies Resources, Knowledge Bases, and an Interactive EU Copyright Map.
The announcement came along with EUIPO’s inaugural Copyright Conference in Alicante and after release of a generative AI impact study on copyright. The Centre will gather case law, an interactive copyright map for all EU countries, training materials, and databases.
Strategically Leading EUIPO 2030 Plan, it Propels the Transparency, Collaboration, and Protection of Europe’s Creative Economy.
Copyright continues to be a key factor in the success of Europe’s creative economy, which is responsible for 6.9% of EU GDP and employs more than 17 million individuals. The EUIPO plans to increase openness, access, and enforcement through projects like Copyright View and a potential digital registry for text and data mining opt-outs in the future.
